lastly, and most importantly, the Megadeth concert tickets have finally arrived. Some talk about going to Pondicherry happened last night, but as usual it went nowhere. But even if I have to go alone I will. I need a break desperately.

Meanwhile look at the tickets and feel bad about not having booked yours :P

Ciao!

That’s one mother of a pun

with 3 comments

Brandy is essentially made from grape wine. Don’t believe me? Look up elsewhere on the net. Now that the details are out of the picture, let’s see how Brandy, grapes and this blog post about a pun come together.

Legends of Rock is the usual evening haunt for rock lovers. It has a quiz every Thursday night called “The Fosters Quickie”. My team has been winning the quickie for the last 9 times consecutively. So we are kind of a big deal there on Thursdays. But fate had something else in store for us yesterday. Let me put it without complicating the matter too much. We lost. And lost miserably. Everyone including the DJ and the staff at the pub wanted us to win and we lost. I guess none of us had a clue or any interest in participating last night.

So Ashish (the owner) comes around and asks me “Kya ho gaya tum logon ko aaj?”. “We’re no good at guessing the answers Ashish.” I reply. Ashish ponders for a bit and goes away. Guess he isn’t used to hearing anything quick n blunt. So I thought I should rescue the situation with a quick joke. So I call the guys over and explain them the plan.

Prashant walks up to Ashish with a ridiculously small quantity of Brandy in a shot glass. I follow him closely. Ashish is offered the drink. He being a predominantly Vodka guy, smells the thing. “Kya hain yeh?” Prashant looks at me and says “Tu bata”.

My answer?

“Sour grapes. Come share some with us.”

Ashish thinks again and a second or two later is seen laughing his ass off. Mission accomplished.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all

without comments

Here’s wishing all you lovestruck bunnies of the world a happy Valentine’s day in advance.

Meanwhile GoFugYourself has the best of the worst from Grammy parties and pre-parties. I’m sure you’ll love seeing snobbish celebrities getting railed for looking like roadkill on the red carpet.

Enjoy!

Blue eyed boys

without comments

Found this rare piece on youtube while stumbling through. Ol’ “Blue Eyes” Sinatra and Elvis “The King” Presley singing Love Me Tender together for a crowd apparently made up only of teeny boppers. Just look how the women go ga-ga over Elvis while Sinatra tries hard not to look pissed off at not being the center of attention for once.

Sont des mots qui vont tres bien ensemble

without comments

Thus goes the song “My Michelle” by The Beatles. But I use them in the context of a review of the movie Over her dead body in today’s Washington Post by the very sarcastic John Anderson.

What I loved best was Anderson’s take on Eva Longoria’s (or should I say Eva Longoria Parker’s … gee-zus) character in the movie and his critique on her acting(?) skills.

Here’s an excerpt from the same:

Wearing a crescendo of hair and enough bronzer to alter the complexion of Finnish Lapland, Parker’s Kate marches around the site of her pending nuptials with all the cuddliness of Otto von Bismarck.

How fitting … no?
