The one where I can’t decide on a catchy name for the post

One thing you should stay away from this summer is Windows Vista. Everyone’s offering the bloated and overly hyped OS for dirt-cheap (some even give it pre-loaded) with new machines. But unless you just want to throw away your money and later your peace of mind, I’d seriously advice you to stick to XP or better still switch to Linux. Trust me, it’s a million times easier to switch to the once dreaded OS since there’s been a lot of improvements while you were sleeping. About Vista I’d just say, Billy boy would have probably been better off investing a year more and a few million more and released a better OS. This is by far the most under tested OS from Microsoft in years, Windows ME taking top honours their however. So many flaws, so few testers, and even fewer engineers willing to touch a piece of that leviathan code they pounded away at for 6 years. Want a glimpse of how crappy it is? Check out these links:

Phew! Caveat Emptor through and through.

One thing I’d ask you to rush to the nearest shop would be the latest Red Hot Chili Peppers album, Stadium Arcadium. It’s a kick-ass album by a band that’s been off the scene for quite some time. Somehow I’ve had this on-off thing about RHCP. I heard them the first time in high school and fell in love instantly. Then came the grunge in college where I kinda lost focus and eventually my touch with the Chili Peppers. Then I landed a job and came to Bangalore and heard “By the way” in a pub. The next evening I went back and was greeted with “Give it away” being blasted right in my face from the speaker at the entrance. And I’ve been hooked on to them ever since. But I digress. Point being, listen to their new album which you should find even with that local DVD seller whose prints look like he used that to scrape off poop. The music is fresh and has a resounding RHCP feel to it. The Mars CD is the better of the two methinks, the other being Jupiter.

Here’s one of my fav songs from the album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E08VtCNj23E

More on the DTS-Fi 220

with one comment

I’ve got numerous hits on my previous post about Bajaj’s bike-of-the-year Pulsar DTS-Fi 225 (now renamed the DTS-Fi 220). Thanks for all the attention and moreover for your patience. A lot of people were interested in knowing when the bike was to be launched. Well interesting enough it has already been spotted on Pune streets since January (probably even earlier).

The reason you haven’t been seeing any of these beasts in your local dealership is because they were all recalled. Now the guys at Bajaj are being pretty tight lipped about this since it’s already won accolades and stuff, but a little yellow birdy says it was because the bike had some hiccups in cold starting. Well in any case Bajaj says it will the manufacturing to full throttle sometime in April, so all you guys can hope to get your hands onto this beauty sometime in May or June this year.
