Reflections on life and friends
Now don’t think I’m getting all serious and all. But sometimes I do like to think about stuff that really matters. And something that’s very important in life is to know who our friends (and foes) really are.
Do our friends always laugh at our jokes? It depends whether or not THEY are funny. But people who are trying to sell us things (material or otherwise), though, will respond rapturously to even our weakest witticisms. And most of the time what they are selling (especially if it is a false image) is instantly bought. No questions asked. After all we all tend to pamper our ego a lot more these days. Yes…even people with a good sense of humour do it. But these…people…they are not our friends. Well, at least true friends. But, for the time being at least, they would like to be. That’s why they try so hard to be so friendly. You can’t automatically assume that if something – or someone – agrees with you, this is a good thing. But someone once said that the most valuable gift is contained within a disagreement. Especially if it comes from a friend. But sadly, most of us are too myopic to see it and scorn the one who’s in fact unassumingly looking out for us. But should that stop one from being the friend that one is? Well, that totally depends on your tenacity.
Anyways enough thinking for one day. Auf wiedersehen und bis bald.
